History

Aug 24, 1839 - Mount Zion Presbyterian Church was organized and met in the homes of members.

​

1845 - the first church building was constructed on land belonging to the Cariens and Few families.

​

May 5, 1854 - Robert and Mary Ann Cariens sold land to the Deacon of Mount Zion Church for ten dollars for the Mount Zion Cemetery.

 

1968 - Ohio Power Company relocated 48 graves from private cemeteries located on the farms of Tom Seright and James Lyons to the Mount Zion Cemetery.

1973 - Ohio Power Company relocated 62 graves from the Salem Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery in Meigs Township to the Mount Zion Cemetery.
